With these words, Elly Stone begins her frank and fascinating reflections on her life. Elly's birth with a disability was just the first of many challenges she would face. As she learned how to live with her disability, little did Elly realise how dramatically her life would change as she grew older.

For over thirty years Elly blocked out the pain and abuse she suffered. Now she has written her story. A Miracle Journey is a story of a woman's struggle, but also of her determination and fighting spirit. Words from the past join with recent recollections, to capture Elly's hope and loss. At times funny, at times heart wrenching, the story also seeks to inform the reader. It is a story of disability, of family, of a haunting and tormenting past, and of a search for happiness and peace.
